Gooseberry Patch Review & Giveaway: "Best-Ever Cookies"

I have several Gooseberry Patch cookie cookbooks. I must confess that my favorite is Old-Fashioned Country Cookies, copyright 1995. There is something about the complete disorganization of the recipes that I find totally charming: No categories - just cookies - drop, shaped, bar, all living together in complete harmony.

Gooseberry Patch's newest cookie book, Best-Ever Cookies, reminds me of that book. While the cookies are categorized, the topics are broad - Cookie Jar Classics, All-American, Old Fashioned, Best-Ever Brownies & Bars, and Fast & Fun - just to name a few. So, within each section, there is a large selection of cookie types.

But the common thread between these two books, the thing that pushed Best-Ever Cookies to the top of my favorites list is the baking tips included on every page. I've always been a fan of Gooseberry Patch tips scattered throughout their cookbooks, but in Best-Ever Cookies, the tips are concentrated on cookie baking and answer questions that you didn't even know you had. I strongly suggest that you read through all of the tips before attempting your next batch of cookies. You're bound to find a tip that will improve your baking.

Finally, the great thing about this cookbook is that whenever the Cookie Monster in you rises up and says, "Me want cookies!", you can look in your pantry, see what ingredients you have on hand, then flip through the cookbook until you find a recipe that fits. That's what I did and I found these winners:

    I love looking at all these books online and try to decide which to order first. I have no stores in Alberta that carry this line so it is all online ordering for me :). It is a great series of cookbooks with lots of good recipes and ideas, keep up the good work. I would love to win some of them.

    This looks like a great cook book. I have the Betty Crocker Cookie Book that is out of print. My brother found it for me in a used book store several years ago. I was thrilled because I grew up using that cookbook as my mom owns it.
    We're big on cookies here and I'd love to check out the book and all it's tips.

    my mother-in-law had a recipe from her husband's mother for a buttermilk chocolate cake that was wonderful. I can't wait to try the buttermilk brownies because they look amazing!     I have to say that GooseBerry Cookbooks are about the best out there that you can come by. If you are a new bride or maybe just trying your hand at meals or baking, these are the easiest books to follow! I was in a thrift store 2 years ago and someone had given up a collection of about 15 of these tempting books, the thrift had them at 3 dollars a piece and my hubby and I bought all of them, I didnt hesitate. I love sitting and just looking through them, especially when its cold and snowy, it gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Anyway, I hope whomever gets the cookbook will be happy at whats good to bake.

    I've been a Gooseberry Patch fan for 10+ years, since I had my first baby. Now my second one became a fan, she flips GP cook books and bake something for family and friends. She wants to be a pastry chef in the future. I know she would love this book, too!
