Recipe Snapshot: Cajun Oven Fries

This recipe is part of my review of Gooseberry Patch's 101 Hearty Recipes. These Cajun Oven Fries came from the Speedy and Satisfying section of the book and was submitted by Kathy McLaren from Visalia, CA. One of the tasks that I hate to take on in the kitchen is peeling potatoes. Luckily, you don't have to in this recipe. Don't be scared when you see two tablespoons of hot pepper sauce in the list of ingredients. The pepper sauce just added flavor, not heat. I would serve these with a nice little dish of Ranch dressing on the side.

Cajun Oven Fries

3 to 4 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. hot pepper sauce
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. paprika
4 potatoes, cut into wedges
salt and pepper to taste

Combine oil, hot sauce and seasonings in a large bowl; toss with potatoes. Arrange potatoes in a single layer on an ungreased non-stick baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes, turning once, until tender. Serves 4.

  2. I have made oven fries before, but nothing that looked as yum as these! We are all a fan of hot sauce around here, so having that hot sauce flavor, I bet these oven fries will be a hit around here!

  4. We love these Cajun fries. Have made them several times and my husband always comments on how good they are. Easy and a snap to make, as well. :)
