Gooseberry Patch Review and Giveaway: "Fresh from the Farmstand"

Released January 2012

It's that time of the year again! Time to make resolutions to lose weight, get healthy, and save money. I'm sure you can fill in the blanks and add your own resolution here. Adding more veggies to your life is the perfect way to accomplish losing weight and getting healthy. And, by adding more fruits and vegetables and cutting back on meat, you can also save money. My goodness, I sound like a frugal nutritionist.

Gooseberry Patch's newest cookbook, Fresh from the Farmstand, can provide us with some much needed inspiration as we embark on the harsh winter months ahead. While all of the recipes contain vegetables and fruit as part of the ingredients, there are plenty of recipes with meat for the carnivores out there. Don't you think a nice steamy bowl of Chicken, Lime and Tortilla Soup would be good right about now?

The contents of this cookbook are divided into the following sections: Freshly Gathered Breakfasts, Market-Basket Soups and Breads, Garden-Fresh Sides and Salads, Farmstand Feasts, Summer's Best Appetizers, and Berry Best Desserts. I found plenty of recipes that piqued my interest - Skillet Squash Succotash, Asian-Style Pork and Noodles, and Fresh Plum Cake.

I chose to highlight the three recipes below. Also, there's a bonus recipe, too.
