Not by Bread Alone

Whenever I go to restaurants like Macaroni Grill and Carrabba's, my favorite part of the meal is always the bread, dripping in seasoned olive oil. A couple of years ago, I decided to whip up some dipping oil myself using ingredients I had on hand. The whole family dug in, olive oil dripping down our chins, our jaws popping from chewing the dense bread. We loved the combination I came up with and have been using the blend since then. I mix the seasonings together and keep them in a bottle in my cupboard just waiting for us when we're ready to break bread.

Seasoning Blend for Bread-Dipping Oil

Steak seasoning
Kosher salt
Italian seasoning
Olive oil

You can make as much or as little as you need. But, the ratio is two parts steak seasoning, two parts kosher salt, and one part Italian seasoning. Pour desired amount of olive oil in a small bowl, sprinkle with seasoning blend. Serve with your favorite bread.

This is one of my favorite breads. It's roasted garlic artisan bread that's sold at Sam's Club. It's in the freezer section and there are four loaves per bag. This is my last loaf! Man, this really makes me miss giving up that membership...

This is a great appetizer! And, one time, I even ate it for a meal.

Enjoy!!
