I don't have enough fun in my life! Unfortunately, I don't see any fun activities in the near future. But, there are some fun recipes out there that can liven up a dull, boring existence. And, most of those recipes are in Jessie Oleson's Cakespy Presents Sweet Treats for a Sugar-Filled Life from Sasquatch Books. Visit Jessie at CakeSpy to see what I'm talking about.
Here's the book...
Fun - that's the first word that came to my mind when I started reading this cookbook. In addition to the quirky recipes, the book features Jessie's own illustrations on almost every page. They're just so sweet and you look forward to turning the page and seeing which one will pop up next.
I think Jessie is a kid at heart because some of these recipes look like they popped right out a child's overactive imagination: Birthday Cake French Toast, Homemade Toaster Treats, and Cadbury Creme Eggs Benedict (from the Breakfasts of Champions section), S'moreos and Tricked-Out Cereal Treats (from the Smart Cookies section) and from the Taking the Cake section of the cookbook - Cupcake-Stuffed Cupcakes and Whoopie Pie Cupcakes. Finally, who can resist Deep-Fried Cupcakes on a Stick?
Most of the recipes are accompanied by full-color photos. And, while many of the titles sound a little wild, the ingredients and techniques are fairly simple. This cookbook is perfect for moms, beginning cooks, or just about anyone who wants to have fun with sweets. It will make a great Valentine's present for yourself or someone you love.
The recipe I chose to feature, Glazed Cinnamon Rolls Stuffed with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, is so simple that I'm not going to include the recipe - just show you some photos. I think you'll get it...
Ingredients...
Step 1
Step 2 - Roll out thin (about 1 tbsp.) strip of cookie dough and reroll.
Step 3
I got a little more generous with the cookie dough as I went along. Bake as directed on cinnamon roll package.
Final Step...
Yummy!

I love glazed cinnamon rolls and this look delicious:)
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I must say, a naughty word came to mind when I saw that it's cinnamon roll stuffed with a cookie. I'll edit... WOW! I need these in my life. :)
ReplyDeleteSo tell us....did the cookies dough cook all the way through? Was it overwhelmingly sweet?
ReplyDeleteThey Look great!
The cookie dough in the middle roll was still a little gooey so I ate that one since I like gooey :) The cookie dough really blends into the cinnamon roll dough and I didn't notice two distinct flavors - It was more like cinnamon rolls with chocolate chips added. So, not overly sweet. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteWooah! This looks too good to be true! A cinnamon roll and a cookie?? In one delicious piece?! Count me in :)
ReplyDeleteYum! Two of my favorite sweets combined into one.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea! how incredibly creative :)
ReplyDeleteCookies, inside a cinnamon roll? Genius.
