Going Bananas

I've been on a banana kick lately. No, I'm not eating bananas as fruit - that would be way too healthy and doesn't fit into my lifestyle... When I say I'm on a banana kick, I mean a banana dessert kick.

It all started with this.

Little Debbie Banana Pudding Roll

I will not confess how many of these I've consumed since "discovering" them about two weeks ago. But, let's just say that I've purchased several boxes! And, except for one roll that I gave my co-worker, I've eaten all of them by myself. They're wonderful. They have a faint banana flavor and are creamy and delicious.

To continue with the banana theme, I made a banana pudding for my father-in-law's birthday last weekend. I left the entire dish with him, but - confession time - I did eat the model.

All of this has led to my latest craving - Chocolate Swirled Banana Bread - that I read about on the Our Best Bites blog a week or so ago. I couldn't stop thinking about it so I bought some bananas and hid them from my son until they ripened enough to use in the bread. Saturday afternoon, my house is filled with the smell of warm bread - the flavors of banana and chocolate have blended together and created a beautiful relationship. I believe my cravings have been satisfied.

It's like breakfast AND dessert all in one.

Enjoy!!

  1. YUMM-O...my sweet Daddy's favorite dessert is old-fashioned banana pudding. Banana desserts always make me think of him :)
